It was a beautiful day to officially begin the Bucknell Humanities Center’s academic year. The BHC staff was grateful for the camaraderie of many colleagues and students — importantly, from across the University. More than ever, Humanities faculty are counting on the interest and energy of those who believe in the value of the Humanities in a rapidly changing world and university setting.
We announced a number of new programs:
- A revised BHC Fellows program that already has more than ten students signed up for an exciting year of in-depth discussions and activities (including “zine-making”) on the theme of Creativity and Contemporary Political Struggle in the United States, led by Professor Jenna Christian (WGS);
- Programming, support, and community for thesis-writers and other researchers in the Humanities; please let us know if you and your students would like to join us (email humanities@bucknell.edu).
- An exciting series of French films screened at the Campus Theatre, thanks to funding secured by Professor John Westbrook from the Albertine Cinémathèque initiative.
- A regional conference — 1776 in Perspective — organized by faculty in History and Political Science.
More announcements to come. . . . Here are some photos from the event.
